Alright so I guess I just committed myself to this project. What project? You might ask And for that matter who the hell ARE you? I hear you muttering at the computer. (Well OK I can't actually hear you and for that matter if you're reading this blog that means you follow me on twitter and so you already know who I am. OR DO YOU?! ...yeah you do and I'll explain why in a sec.)
Alright so first things first this project is to document things I've noticed in fandom and the concept of celebrity in general. I've always been on the outside of both, but now it seems that I'm in fandom and therefore MUST get a grasp on this whole fandom/celebrity thing. So you get to come with me. I have a lot of witty things to say and I am quite frankly shit in front of a camera. Yeah in spite of calling myself a fangirl I've never really understood the strange animal that is the cult of celebrity. I just don't get it, and I'll elaborate further in the posts to come.
I've also never really grasped the concept of being part of fandom. Until recently I've always been a lurker on the internet. Observing, but never being observed or known in turn. That's changed a LOT in the last few years and it's made me feel weird. So this is a space where I can write out why it is I feel this way and hopefully get some feedback along the way from you lovely folks out there in internet land. Should be fun, or not, we'll see.
OK now for the hard part. Exactly who the hell am I and why should you care? Well I can't answer the second bit, but I CAN tell you who I am. I'm Kayla a 25 year old geek who lives on the internet. For the most part who I am in real life is exactly the same as who I am online. Although I have my online name "riathepinkie" that's always been more for the sake of my name being WAY more popular than one might think. It's hard to delve deeper than that. I am somewhat odd and the only group I've found that accepts me the way I am is the geek community.
I love music more than anything else in the entire world and someday I hope to break out of my mousy shell and be able to sing in front of people. Music is to me like air, water, and food is to most people. The most important thing in my life is my ability to sing and connect to music. I love a lot of other things too of course. Reading is a particular hobby of mine, as is taking walks around my city creating stories in my head of the other passersby as I aimlessly wander. I like to write although I haven't been doing enough of it lately. That's my interests in a nutshell. I'm sure there are way more interesting people out there that could fill up entire volumes about themselves, but that's not me. I've always been more or less direct and to the point.
So yes this is who I am. This is my blog. These are my thoughts. I really hope that you enjoy my meandering journey where I hopefully learn what it means to be a fangirl my way. Ta for now everyone!
